Inspired by Ernst Haeckel's illustrations, the Golden Ratio, represented by the Greek letter phi (Φ), a special number approximately equal to 1.618033988749895, and the Fibonnaci Sequence, a series of numbers that go on forever, edging ever closer to the Golden Ratio.

Blending nature and science, Silk Laundry's latest collection showcases the harmony of natural and mathematical patterns. Each piece is crafted with sustainability in mind, featuring innovative materials like Japanese Cotton and Hempim. The colour palette, with rich hues of blue and red, pen ink and check prints reminiscent of graph paper, brings a nostalgic yet modern feel. Guided by Creative Director Katie Kolodinski, the collection symbolises growth and function, offering a refined wardrobe experience.

“Golden Ratio stems from my fascination with the beauty in science. My lifelong curiosity led me to explore Ernst Haeckel’s (German zoologist and evolutionist) illustrations, geometric patterns, and Fibonacci mathematics for this collection.

Committed to environmental responsibility, this range explores innovative materials and production techniques. While continuing to use our renowned silk fabrications, we expanded our offerings to include classic shirting styles in pure cotton, woven on Japanese looms, providing a unique, luxurious texture.

We also created a custom grid print and crochet pattern reminiscent of graph paper, where new ideas are formulated and mathematical rules are recorded. I hope this collection inspires you to pursue your passions, seek knowledge, and appreciate nature's incredible designs.”

The intricate carvings on the wood of a pinecone, a Nautilus shell, delicate flower petals, the DNA of honeybees, the Fibonacci sequence is ever-present in nature. This sacred geometrical pattern signifies growth, evolution, balance, and the divine order.
